Lost Tampon? Understanding What Happens If a Tampon Remains in the Vagina
Question36 years old 2 children last period was April 27th
Is it possible for a very small tampon to get lost in the body? I cannot remember if I took it out or not and I have been feeling sick to my stomach and weak feeling for 2 days. If this is what happened what happens to it?
Answer You cannot "lose" a tampon in your body. The vagina has no outlets into the body. However, you certainly can have a tampon remain in your vagina if you forgot to remove it. If this is the case, you will start to have an unbearabluy foul smell coming from your vagina (depending on how long the tampon has remained in the vagina). If you notice such a smell, go to your gynecologist and a speculum exam can easily see if the tampon has remained in the vagina. Otherwise, don't worry about it.
