Question

I have to wait until the end of the week for my level 2 sonogram.. i have to go becausae they said the nuchal translucency was 2.8mm at 10 weeks and i am at risk for downs syndrome... are there any chances my baby will be normal? this is scary and my doctor did not give me any information... thanks!

Answer
Nuchal transllucency is a "soft" sign of Down Syndrome. It is by far not definitive. The only definitive test is amniocentesis, where a karyotype is made and the chromosomes are examined for Trisomy 21.  At your age, there is a very low risk for Down Syndrome.
