Early Pregnancy Cramps & Light Bleeding: What to Know

Hello my name is Nicole and I am 18 years old. Im about 5 - 6 weeks pregnant. These past couple of days I have been experiencing something like menstral cramps. They dont last longer that 5 minutes and they dont come that frequent but it is still worrying me. I am aware that cramping is normal in early pregnancy but on sunday when i woke up I had brownish/red blood on my underwear. That was the only time I have bled so far. i was just wondering if you think this is normal or not. Also the cramping is sometimes associated with vaginal discharge. Your advice will greatly be appreciated.

Let me know the first day of your last period and I will attempt to figure out what is going on. The brownish staining is normal in early pregnancy. It is usually "old" blood coming from the uterus. Occasional cramping is common,  I hope you meant that the cramping was 5 minutes apart, not that each cramp lasts for 5 minutes. That is a bit too long. If it persists, consult your ob.
