QuestionI am hoping that you will be able to help me with this problem! I am 19 and have been sexually active in the past.
I had a normal period, but the day after my period I noticed that the skin around my vagina is peeling. I do not have a discharge so I dont think it is a yeast infection. It is not at all itchy or irritated, it just looks very bad. Could you perhaps tell me what is causing this? Thank you very much!
AnswerHi Heidi,
First thing that came to mind, was a yeast infection. Perhaps its just starting, or it was just mild. This is the number one reason for peeling skin in the vaginal area.
I did some research however, and found that many ladies who tan frequently have encountered this problem. It is said that the UV rays, can pentrate right through undergarments actually burning the labia, and surrounding area's. So I dont know if you tan, but if you do its something to consider.
In severe cases, it can be a sign of vaginal cancer. Allthough its extremely rare. I would give it a week, and see if it clears up. If it doesnt, I would most definately bring it to your doctors attention for evaluation.
Hope this is of some help, and thanks for writing!
