It is not the most fertile time for you, by any means. But having sex during your period can result in pregnancy. It definitely is not impossible.

This is partially attributed to the fact that sperm cells can survive several (usually about 5) days once past the cervix (opening into the uterus). And it has been found that some women can have more than one ovulation phase during a menstrual cycle.

It's best not to rely on your period as a method of birth control.
