Answer
Dear Dee,

In my experience, the absolute best way to minimize fear is to gain knowledge about whatever it is you are feeling anxiety about. You didn't say specifically what fears you are struggling with, but if you would like to write back about anything specific, I will do my very best to give you as much information on it as I can.

You also need to trust your doctor. If you do not trust your doctor/medical team, you need to ask yourself why you are going to him/her. Otherwise, you do need to put yourself in their care and trust that they will do their very best to ensure the safety of you and your baby.

I would also suggest that you begin trying to find a way to remove those anxious thoughts from your mind when they become overwhelming. Whether this is through meditation, music, reading, audio tapes/CDs,... whatever it might take. If you haven't found - or struggle to find - something that helps you do this, I would suggest seeing a psychotherapist about different methods to assist you through this time.

I hope this information has helped you some and again, feel free to write back in with any more specific concerns. I wish you well.
