Ovulation After Tubal Ligation: What You Need to Know
Questioni was wondering is ovulating after a tubel normal. i had mine done almost two years ago and i am now ovulating. i only had them burned. so i was just curious how come all a sudden i am.
AnswerDear Steph,
Unless you have your ovaries removed (which you don't with a tubal ligation), you do still ovulate. Ovulation is the release of a mature egg from the ovary. Typically this is followed by the egg traveling down/through the Fallopian tube where it is either fertilized or not. It then further travels to the uterus either to be shed (menstruation) if unfertilized or implant into the lining if fertilization has occurred. Tubal ligation simply interrupts the ability for fertilization to take place by blocking the pathway the sperm must take to the egg (the Fallopian tubes).
I hope this has helped you and answered your question. I wish you well.
