Exercise During First Trimester: Safety & Considerations
QuestionI am 6wks preg. and in my last u/s there was a small, 5mm area in my uterine lining which seems to be "unstuck". The doctor was not too worried and told me to lay around for a week. Until this point I had reduced my exercise routine to walking for an hour (4xweek), doing lunges intermittenly during walks, prenatal pilates and exercise bands for upper arm exercises. Before pregnancy I was an avid runner, running 5k about 3-4x week, weight training and step cardio workouts. Do you think I will have to stop exercising or further lower the strenousness of my exercise routine? I always wear a heart rate monitor when I walk to be sure my hr does not exceed 140bpm (when I ran I was usually at around 150-155). Thanks!!
AnswerExercise is not advised for all high risk pregnancies. If you uterine lining does not go back to normal, then most likely your OBGYN will advise you not to exercise.
I suggest that you get another ultra-sound to monitor the condition and then follow the advise of your OBGYN.
