QuestionI will try to make this quick...
I had my second baby 3 months ago and had hydro polyamnios (sp) during pregnancy, now am left with abd separation. I look like I am pregnant still. I am also a professional fire fighter and am now back to work, and I stay very active. I have done research about this abd condition and most things say it will never go away. To make matters a little more complicated I have Crohn's disease and Celiacs disease so my diet is limited. I train at the National Strength and Conditioning Association head quarters and I feel they are doing a great job of trying to get my trans abd muscles strengthened and doing a lot of pelvic work as well.
I am becoming a bit depressed because I feel like I have a huge balloon in my way all the time. How long does it take to get your "flat tummy" back. I don't have to look perfect, but my distended belly just doesn't seem right and I feel like I am doing all I know to do.
Any advise or support would be awesome,

AnswerHow wide is your separation?
Women with diastasis should NOT perform ANY abdominal exercises that flex the upper spine, or lift/roll the upper body off the floor or against the force of gravity. Have you been doing these types of exercises?
Have you done any splinting of the Rectus Abdominis with your current program?
