Menopause & Contraception at 56: Do You Need Birth Control?

Question
I`m 56 have had slight period a few weeks ago and 1 at the end of December. Before that a heavy period 6th October. Before that nothing for 10 mths. Have had all symptoms of Menopause, but no symptoms at present. Used temp and mucus during my 30s and early 40`s. Then ovulation testing machine until no obvious signs. Then had coil, removed over two years ago.

Answer
I would not think so.  Since you've already gone 10 months with no period but now they have resumed sporadically, you are definitely approaching menopause (peri-menopause).  You might want to go see your doctor about why things are so different now.  There could be a hormonal imbalance that is restarting things again.  Or it could just be the storm before the quiet!
