Question
I had blood work done and my BMP showed sodium 127 Potassium 3.5 and Chloride 98 and was also told I had a UTI. Can any of these levels be low due to the UTI and also my resting heart rate is now 98-110. What can be causing this I do suffer from aniety and Postural Orthostatic syndrown and take propranolol 10 mg 2x a day now I'm getting no relief is the UTI causing all this. my WBC was 11.3 and HCT 35.6 please help me understand these results should i be worried. I do drink a lot of water everyday about 7-8 bottles a day.

Answer
Hi Octavia, I'd be glad to try and answer your question, at least part of it.  Your potassium, chloride, WBC and Hct are all within normal limits.  Your sodium is a little low, which could be from the UTI.  But I don't believe the UTI or you drinking alot of water is related to your Postural Orthostatic Syndrome.  Are you taking an antibiotic for the UTI?  If so, the UTI should clear up completely in 1-2 weeks.  If you're still not getting relief, then I'd recommend a follow-up with your doctor.
