QuestionHi,
I have another IUI timing question of a different nature. I am on my first Clomid with IUI cycle. I did my day 12 ultrasound and bloodwork today (which is a Thursday). I have a follicle that measures 14 mm today. I just received a call from the nurse at my RE's office, and she told me my LH is still low. My doctor wants me to do the LH kits over the weekend, and if a dark line is detected, to do my ovidrel shot that night and come in for IUI the next day. The problem is, I never had a dark enough line when I used to do the LH kits. So, I was then advised to another ultrasound and bloodwork on Monday. Is this too late?? Should I still try to do the LH kit over the weekend, and if so, how will I know if it is dark enough to do the trigger shot? Should I just wait until Monday to see if my follicles and bloodwork are in the right place. I'm worried it will be too late if I wait until Monday for another u/s.
AnswerHello,
It may be that your RE doesn't want to go in on the weekend, but based on a 14mm follicle, I would expect you to be ready for the HCG on Sunday. So, I would do an ultrasound on Saturday and Sunday,if not yet ready, and if the follicle was 20 mms on that day, I would give the HCG injection and do the IUI on Monday and Tuesday (I am a two IUI person). I don't like using LH kits. I figure since my patient is already spending so much to do the treatment, they might as well get the best treatment they can with the best possible chances of pregnancy. The ultrasound is better at timing ovulation than the LH kit is.
