QuestionQUESTION: Hello.
I am to start fertility meds next month ( for an IVF cycle with a surrogate). I had very severe HG in a previous pregnancy and have heard that woman with a history of HG can be very sensitive to fertility meds and create a very large amt of eggs. Can you tell me anything about this? current research? meds to avoid? possible appropriate dosages to begin with? etc?
Thanks so much
ANSWER: Hello Luwana from the U.S.,
I'm sorry for my ignorance, but what do you mean by "HG"?
Are you referring to hyperstimulation syndrome?

QUESTION: hello-
HG was for hyperemesis gravidarium.
thanks:)
AnswerHello Luwana,
Thanks for clearing that up. People use all kinds of abbreviations and there are too many words that match them.
I know of no such association between fertility medications and hyperemesis gravidarum. The only patients that tend to have an increased risk for a high yield (hyperstimulate) with fertility medications are patients that have polycystic ovarian disease or syndrome. Their ovaries are very sensitive to the fertility medications such that they can form 30 or more follicles.
