QuestionDear Karen, I had a coronary scan of my heart {a mobile unit}and it showed no blockage at this time."But" it did detect an hiatal hernia, which explains the full tight feeling in my chest from time to time.I also get sore around the upper back, shoulders around the same time.
Could you please explain the common differences between pain from an hiatal hernia vs heart attack. Thank You !
So nice of you to offer your help and share your experiences to everyone on this site. !
AnswerDar Ron, Unfortunately, not all hiatal hernia pain and heart attack pain is the same in every person.... So to discuss the differences of each is not possible....
I myself have had 2 heart attacks and BOTH were different with different symptoms.... Also, hiatal hernia pain and heart attack pain can give off the SAME symptoms.... My doctor told me to NEVER assume it is NOT the HEART.... Instead, to get to the hospital or her office so blood work for the heart enzyme that appears in the blood when a heart attack occurs can be done and also an EKG can be run immediately....
Therefore, I pass this information on to you..... If you get treatment for your hiatal hernia and your continue to have these pains/symptoms, I would suggest that you see a cardiologist and get a COMPLETE cardia workup done.... CT-scans are not always totally reliable....
Thank you, karen
