Phen Phen and COPD: Potential Link and Lung Health Concerns

My mother is 75 and has suddenly started wheezing and labors for breath sometimes with walking sometimes sitting down. The Dr. has given her some test and I think hes leaning towards COPD. He tells her the oxygen levels in her blood are droping.MY question is, Can the eariler use of phen phen cause COPD? She took phen phen for weight loss for @ 9 months.

I would have to say that it is unlikely that the phen phen is responsible.  Given your  Mom's age, there are many other things that could contribute to her symptoms.

Though the use of phen phen has been associated with other cardiovascular and pulmonary problems, your Mom certainly deserves a thorough workup for other causes.
