Throat Burning Sensation & Soreness: Causes & Relief

Question
Hello, my throat feels like it is on fire. One one side of the soft area right before the back of your throat. (like where your tonsils would be, but I don't have any) there is a few TINY sores.  I had this happen a couple weeks ago but it was much worse, I had a sore on my tongue as well.  It healed, but now seems to be coming back with no sores on my tongue.
I feel as if there is razors in that area.
I have a couple questions.  One, what do you think this could be since the sores and pain is only on one side? (the burning is all over)
Two, if I decide to go to the Dr. who is best?  The GP? Dentist? or my ENT?
Thanks.

P.S.  I am a healthy non-smoking 26 year old female.

Answer
It sounds like an apthous ulcer, meaning a viral ulcer on the soft tissue in the mouth.  An ENT or your GP can verify it and if so, a medicine called magic mouthwash helps, but it will basically go away on it's own.  But, it may take up to three weeks.

Hope this helps....
