Persistent Cough, Vomiting & Difficulty Breathing: Potential Causes & Concerns
QuestionI need help. A couple weeks ago my sister-in-law started having a very strong, non productive, emetizing cough...a week ago I started having the same, very intense episodes of coughing that in 80% of the times end in vomiting and ALWAYS come with difficulty breathing. My sister-in-law, my wife and I all have this almost permanent low-grade headache and general discomfort.
What's scared me is that my son (13 months) started having the same type of cough right when he was recovering from what Doctors called Giacontti-Crostti Syndrome. Now he's coughing, vomiting and seems like when he's coughing he's not having an easy time breathing. Someone mentioned to me we can be suffering from mold exposure....What are your thoughts on this? (NOBODY HAS HAD A FEVER)
AnswerThis is much more likely a viral upper respiratory disorder. Even though there are some fungi and molds that cause respiratory infections, statistically, it is much more likely that it is simply viral. If it doesn't resolve in the next 2 weeks, then it needs further evaluation.
