QuestionI had a complete hysterectomy at 33 and have been taking premarin for 22 years. About a year ago, I started weaning myself off by cutting the pills in half (.625 reduced to .31 mg). After Christmas I went off the premarin completely as my doctor suggested. I can certainly function daily but I experience more hot flashes than expected. Ninety percent of the time I have a film of persperation on my upper lip and sit at work or home, in 25 degree weather, with the windows open. I can't comfortably drink a cup of coffee, any where, without sweating. This isn't my normal self. My question is, am I truely at an increased risk for breast cancer by taking such a low dose of estrogen? Thanks for you help. Nancy Matako
Answer I actually don't know the answer to your question. Probably no one realy does even the "experts" in this area.
You will have decide which is worse. Is it worse to be at a small increase of breast cancer, or is it worse to live your daily life like you are.
I take birth control and I worry about any effects it will have on me, but I am not a very nice person without it, lol.
Good luck.
