Question-------------------------
I did just start recently taking an over the counter IBS medicine that is basically just yogurt cultures,I just bought more Fiber Choice chewables tonight that I have used before, but that is it.
Question -
I have IBS with constipation, I have never tried a laxative. I decided out of desperation to try Milk of Magnesia. I expected to wake up the next morning and totally clean out my bowel, that did not happen, I did go several times, but I still don't feel totally cleared out, is that normal?
Also, I have hemroids pretty bad right now do to the constipation, can they make my stool come out thinner? It is not pencil thin or anything, and funny enough it is not always thin. Is this normal when you have Hemmoroids?
I just had my annual pap and they felt on my belly, they did not mention feeling anything abnormal, also about 6 months ago I have a rectal exam, (finger in the rectum) nothing was found during that exam either.
I am 26 years old and female. Thanks for anything you can tell me.

the bad news about irritable bowel syndrome is that it's still a bit of a mystery. the good news is that by the time you're diagnosed with it,all serious health problems have already been ruled out. to manage the problem,try these tips;
-dont panic-because it's often tough to determine the cause of irritable bowel syndrome,you need to be patient while your doctor seaches for an explanation.
-fill up on fiber-not only are vegetables and whole grains loaded with nutrients,they can also help prevent constipation and tame your irritable bowel.
-cut the fat-fatty foods also have been linked to irritable bowel syndrome.
-give zip the slip-spicy foods have been know to cause their share of problems.
-try the elimination diet-although not all stomach doctors agree,some gastroenterologists believe that irritable bowel syndrome may be caused by an allergy to certain foods. you can try an elimination diet to determine whether a food allergy could be contributing to your problem. such as milk,eggs,wheat,corn,soy,peanuts,citrus fruits,colas and chocolate are some of the most common foods that cause allergic reactions. during an elimination diet,you avoid one group of foods at a time,carefully monitoring yourself for symptoms. if your symptoms disappear,you may have found the culprit.
-ask about medication-if you suffer from persistent irritable bowel syndrome,ask your doctor about antispasmodies,which prevent spasms by relaxing intestinal muscles,for use during severe episodes;
i hope this all helps;
