Possible Complications from Air Travel & Illness: A Doctor's Perspective
QuestionDoctor:
About a year ago i traveled from PA to san diego and on the plane i most likely caught a nasty cold, i still had the cold a few days later for my return trip. After i was home a day i thought i may have strep throat so i went to my doctor and he said it was thrush. I took acidophilus for a few days and it went away and i have not had any complications since, and it has been a year, i was wandering if the air travel while i had a cold could have brought on this?
AnswerA thrush infection should not occur unless you are an infant, or have been on antibiotics for a long time or have some immune system problem. I am not sure how he diagnosed that, but unless you have the above or are a diabetic that has very poor blood sugar control, then something is wrong with you or the diagnosis is wrong. You should discuss this with your doctor.
