Increased Vaginal Discharge and Odor: Causes and What to Do

Question
I am 43 years old and just this past year I have noticed that I am secreting more fluids from my vagina than ever before.  I have always had some discharge, but this past year I have noticed an increase and with it more embarassing odor.  I have heard that as women get older they usually have to use lubricants during intercourse, well I am deffinately not in that catagory.  What would you suggest and is this normal?  I wash daily, especially in that area, but am finding that mid-day, early evening I need to change under garments because of the strong odor.  The odor does not smell foul just more intense female odors.  Thanks for any suggestion you might have.

Answer
Yes, it sounds like you have a low grade infection or a ovarian adrenal hormonal imbalance that needs cultures and if negative then tests like adrenal blood tests, pelvic ultrasound. At any rate it is not normal. The natural treatment would be using plain yogurt on a tampon daily for a week but the tests should be done first.
