Swollen Tendon & Leg Cramps: Dr. Martin's Expert Advice

Question
Dr. Martin,

I am 38 yrs old and very active I walk 1-2 miles a day.  Recently I noticed what appears to be a swollen tendon or muscle on the outside of my left leg near the calf.  I have also had occasional cramps in my upper thigh (charlie horses).  What could be causing this, and do you think the two are related or separate issues?

Answer
kim;

yes indeed there related,and your leg need some rest or it wont heal.
rest the leg,up on some pillows,for a least half-hour twice a day if possible. try using a heating pad,or some warm-wet-heat,to help in the healing.

should be better in a week or two. if not then you need to see your doctor.
