Eye Swelling: Causes, Symptoms & When to See a Doctor

Question
I have a random thing that I can't pinpoint.  On a totally random schedule (2-3 times a year or so) the inside bottom corner of my eye (around my tear duct) gets red and swollen for no apparent reason.  I have tried switching contacts, wearing glasses, not wearing makeup, switching making, using hypo-allergenic makeup.... nothing makes a difference.

It isn't caused my trauma and no pus/discharge comes out of it.  It is just simply swollen and red and it hurts.  It isn't affecting my tear duct, that is just the location (although once or twice it has been on the outside upper lid).

I'm pretty sure it isn't related to allergies because my mother is a nurse and has tested me many times and gives me allergy shots (she mixes them too).  I'm just allergic to ragweed and pollen in the fall.

Also, when it is red/swollen/painful, the healing time is a few days and it doesn't make it shorter or longer if I do anything, such as wear makeup or not, wear contacts or not.

I always take my contacts out at night and wash all my makeup off.

Any idea what it is, what is causing it, and how I can prevent it?

And on a side note... I'm a third year pre-med student about the take the MCAT.  Any suggestions? And how horrible is medical school?

Thanks :)

Answer
Yes, this is a form of dry eye syndrome due to the excess omega-6 plant oils from cooking oils and foods such as chicken, turkey, peanut products, chips, flax and responds to 1 tsp of omega-3 fish oil four times a day.

to improve your MCAT scores take B-100 four times a day with the above fish oil.

Medical school is great
