Like each season, we have unleashed our animal instincts with a spot of leopard print. No, we for once, are not talking about the printed clothes, but something much louder and wilder! Any guesses? Yes, eye makeup. No don’t just write it off, not until you try this playful pattern.
Maybe you’re the kind who hates the sight of leopard print, or maybe you’re not. In any case we map this catty print-inspired eye makeup which should make embracing the look-challenge easier.
First, you need the right tools. To moisturize, soften, fill lines and keep your makeup look smooth, add a small amount of Bobbi Brown’s Long-Wear Eye Base or MAC Prep + Prime Lash into the entire lid right before applying your shadow. Yes, applying an eye shadow primer works wonders by keeping the fine lines around your eyes at bay!
After applying an eye shadow primer, take a soft brush (our pick: Tapered Eye Shadow Brush) and sweep on a warm and elegant brown hue, like NYX Nude Matte Shadow in Betrayal, just above your crease. Take the same building colour and further create a “C” shape at the outer corner of your lower lash line.
Once done, clean the brush and apply a light shimmer brown shadow (try Ardency Inn Modster Manuka Honey Enriched Pigments in Hell) above the matte brown shadow to blend out any harsh lines or uneven color application above your crease and create a smoky effect. For more defined shades, try creating a contour with color. Which means, place the darker shade of your palette in the crease, blending the outer corner just a bit.
Thereafter, give your eyelids more dimension by highlighting the center of your lid with the same light eye shadow. We however prefer Tom Ford Eye Color Quad In Cognac Sable a gorgeous shimmering brown shade, to create a more defined and vibrant crease.
Now, build the eye using a black eyeliner. Take a Shu Uemura Lasting Gel Pencil Eye Liner in Black and glide it right in between your lashes, and then pull up ever so slightly. After you have done that all over your waterline, set it with a matte black eye shadow, like Nars Eyeshadow in Coconut Grove. You can use a Kleenex to wipe off any excess.
Once done, create a cat eye just above your top lid with a fine and easy to apply Max Factor Masterpiece Glide & Define Liquid Eyeliner.
Okay, now you’re ready for the leopard prints! We like the idea of going all gold shimmer with the prints, but if you are reluctant you can go simple with it and opt for a simple white pencil. Just place abstract leopard prints over the outer corner of your lid and lightly press an Urban Decay Eyeshadow In Darkhorse shadow over the Rimmel London Soft Kohl Kajal Eyeliner Pencil in Pure White crayon. This will make your print pop!
Now to add little detailed dots around each shape, just create a C and an O shape with the black liner. This will give your design an authentic feline effect. In case of any fixing, touch up the liquid catty print eye by filling the shape with the white crayon.
One of the most important steps for any eye makeup is curling the lashes, and one of our favourites too. Give the lashes three little pumps and this will open the eyes dramatically. Not only that, a curler also separates the lashes while adding fold to the ends, so to achieve those impressive catty eyes, we recommend M&S Face Care Eyelash Curlers and Bobbi Brown Eyelash Curler Gentle Curl –which will give your lash a perfect ‘U’ shape instead of a ‘V’.
For the last step, apply double coats of Maybelline Define-A-Lash Lengthening Mascara or Covergirl Lashblast Volume Mascara on the entire lashes. Focus in the middle of the eyelash to make your eyes appear thicker and larger.
Now that you know how to do leopard eye makeup, what are you waiting for? Allow this makeup to be your bold statement look and you’ll be surprised at how it all comes together!
