QuestionI am currently taking a generic brand of the birth control pill, Seasonal. I was thinking about starting TrimSpa, and was wondering if there would be any interactions with my birth control. (ie: rendering it in-effective)
Thank you
AnswerDear H,
I did some research. Seems that there are no studies out there that I could find that spoke of TrimSpa and birth control pills. Generally, the consensus is that it is not KNOWN if they change the effectiveness of the birth control.
That being said....
The ingredients of TrimSpa (along with other diet pills over the counter) are many. And each batch, so to speak, can vary in the amount of any given ingredient. These ingredients have been poorly tested, and you run the chance of adverse effects by combining the two.
For the safety of yourself, please consult your physician before starting TrimSpa. TrimSpa will cause you to diuresis, thus putting you in a state of dehydration. Once you stop the TrimSpa, you are immediately going to gain weight back just by replenishing your hydration status.
Also, please remember that all these diet pills are advertised as "being taken along with a sensible diet and an exercise plan". Basically, you are going to lose weight if you eat a sensible diet and exercise. The pills make money for those that manufacture them. And please, please, do not smoke if you are taking any birth control medication, or treatment. Again, please do not start any over the counter medications without speaking with your physician.
Best wishes to you,
Andrea
