Birth Control Effectiveness: What to Do After a Missed Pill?

Question
I just happen to have unprotected sex an hr before it was time to take my next birth control pill, i was reading online that that same day was my most fertile day (ovulation calendar), or ovulation day. Am i still "covered" since i have been takin my pills for the past 7 months on time and regularly?

Answer
Dear Carmen,

This really shouldn't make any difference. If you take the pills regularly or irregularly, there is always a chance of pregnancy. No method of birth control is 100% safe in prevening pregnancy.

Have you ever had any side effects from the pills? Just wondering because I am hearing from some women that they are suffering different effects. I don't usually recommend the birth control pill or any kind of hormonal birth control method.

Is it a problem if you are pregnant? If you want to get a free pregnancy test, you can go to a pregnancy resource center. To find a center in your area, go to http://www.optionline.org or call 1-800-395-HELP. Or try http://www.heartbeatservices.org and click on the globe in the upper right hand corner of the page.

Please email me at CHERYL51@aol.com if you would like to let me know what happens. I would love to hear from you.

Sincerely,
Diane Cheryl
