Supplement Overload: Potential Risks & Interactions
QuestionHello,
I have a lot of health problems and medications does not help except for clonazepam. I started taking vitamine B complex, vitamine C, vitamine E, calcium and magnesium, glucosamine and chondroitin, taurine and now pycnogenol. All as directed on the bottles. Can to many supplements may cause side effects?
Thank you.
AnswerAnnie,
That is a complicated question as too many of the wrong kind and with untoward interactions can be problematic. Taking too much of lets say Selenium because it is present in 3 different supplements you take can be toxic. Generally the body tolerates high doses of herbs and supplements outside the fat soluble vitamins (A, E, D & K). So be careful with those. A better way to take supplements is to find a well engineered and formulated supplement system such as the Longevity AM/PM Pack System from Vita Sanus... I formulated this for the company but no longer have any financial interest. For more visit www.vitasanus.com
