Iron Supplement Dosage for Iron Deficiency: Is 65mg Too Much?

Question
Hello,

I am a 29 year old female diagnosed with iron deficiency anemia with my hemoglobin levels at 9.3. I started taking 65 mg of ferrous sulfate a day. I also take a multivitamin with 10 mg of ferrous bisglycinate chelate. Is this too much iron?

Thanks for your time,

R.

Answer
No the additional 10mg is NOT too much to take.  Make sure you don't have hemochromotosis an Iron absorption and metabolism disorder because then Fe can be toxic.  Also some thalasemias iron intake can be dangerous.
