Understanding Menopause: What to Expect After Your Periods Stop

Question
i am 48 and my periods stopped about 6 years ago i don't have any symptoms of any kind just wanted to no if this is normal or do i have something to worrie about?

Answer
Sandra,

By definition no period (menstraul) for 12-months is menopause, so you are post-menopausal.  This will increase your risk for some diseases such as premature aging, heart disease, some cancers and osteoporosis.  It is advisable to take measures (lifestyle) and hormonal therapy to help arrest this development and slow down the aging process.
