QuestionI know this isnt your area, but i figured you would know more about it than me.
I had unprotected sex, and a few days later I started my period.
I thought I was safe for a second, since I got my period.
However, than I realized. That is when I'm most likely to get pregnant (having sex right before or after my menstrual cycle)
so my question is...
Since i'm on my period now, when should would be the safest time to take a pregnancy test?
thank you.
AnswerHi,
I apologize for the delay, there was a technical problem!
A couple days before or after your period is NOT the most likely time to get pregnant. It can happen, but not that often.
For most mature, healthy women, ovulation is around the 14th day from your period. The uterus needs time for the lining to build up so that a fertilized egg can implant. Right before your period, it's getting ready to "shed" during your period, that is what the bleeding is, the lining of the uterus.
If your on your period now, and it's a normal period, that would mean your NOT pregnant and don't need to test.
If your period is really light, short or just kind of spotting, then you may be able to take a test but the result might not be accurate.
Just remember the most optimal time to get is between your periods, and only for a few days.
