Full-Term Pregnancy After Premature Birth: Factors & Chances

Question
I just had a baby 5 months ago. I had her at 8 and a half months. I had my son 3 years ago, and he was full-term. I plan on having one more in two years. Do you think i could go full-term with this one? thanks

Answer
There are many, many variables that go into prematurity, and they tend to change with each pregnancy.  Unless you had some kind of recurring health problem that will definitely reappear in your next pregnancy, your chances of going to full-term are the same as they were before your preemie was born.

Some types of prematurity are preventable.  If you had to deliver early due to preeclampsia, for example, the Brewer diet (www.blueribbonbaby.org) can prevent this next time.
