Decreased Fetal Movement at 25 Weeks: What to Do?

Question
i am 25 weeks pregnant. For the last 4 weeks my baby has totaly changed her pattern. She was very very active before now I only feel her move 5 times a day not hr. I have gone in for stress test she seems fine they send me home. I have a bad feeling and worry alot. I am not sleeping at all and very stressed out. My apt isn't untill sept 8th. I am due oct 4 07. My Dr's are military maybe tahts why they wont do an ultra sound to check my amonitic fluid like I have requested. My question is should I try to go somewhere else or will She be ok untill my next apt. I am tired of saying to them she is so much different now then 4 weeks ago. It took them 5 months to do anything about my bacteria infection they kept dismissing it. Finally they took care of it last apt gave me meds. Please help me!!!! I am so tired and scared

Answer
First, I encourage you to calm down. You need to try to be as relaxed as possible. The more tired and scared you are, the worse it is for the baby.

If you are worried, I recommend that you seek a second opinion from an OB/GYN outside of the military base. Explain to your new OB/GYN that the other clinic dismissed a bacterial infection and explain your concerns. I always encourage mothers to seek a second opinion if they believe they have not received proper care from their primary doctor. I recommend you seek attention elsewhere, because obviously this is worrying you.

However, I would like to mention that as your baby grows, she will move less. She's running out room in there- which is natural. =)  Also, high levels of stress and anxiety from the mother- as well as a lack of sleep or abnormal sleeping habits- can also cause the baby to move less. If you find yourself very tired, the baby may also be moving and active when you're asleep. If you are keeping yourself up with worry, you may be so tired that you don't feel it when your baby moves during your sleep. =)

Please let me know if I can help you further or with anything else.

Best wishes,
Helen =)
