Natural Childbirth at 29 Weeks: Tips & Support

Question
i am 29 weeks old pregnant. i want to gave my child with normal delivery. how can i work for it

Answer
Hi Fathima,

The first thing I would suggest is making sure that your doctor or midwife supports what you want. If they don't, it is not too late to switch care providers.
Talk to your friends who have had a birth experience similar to what you want, and see who they recommend.

The second thing is, if possible,  take a good childbirth education class that focuses on natural childbirth. I'm not sure what is available in your area. You CSM look on the Lamaze website (www.lamaze.org) to see if there are any Lamaze instructors in your area.

Also on the Lamaze website are the six care practices that support natural birth - the more of those that you are able to get in your birth, the more likely that you will have the birth you want.

Here are the six care practices.(in my own words) You can read more about them on the Lamaze website:
Let labor start on its own.
Labor in upright positions.
Have supportive people around you for your birth.
Avoid unneccesary interventions.
Don't push on your back.
Keep your baby with you immediately after the birth.

Educate yourself. Read some good childbirth books - again, I'm not sure what's available in your language.

When you are in labor, stay home as long as possible. (barring any medical issues)

Consider hiring a doula. She can help you prepare and answer a lot of yor questions. You can go to dona.org to find a doula in your area and you can also try putting "doula" and "YourTownorArea" in a search engine to see the doulas who are in your area.

I wish you the best with your upcoming birth and I hope my suggestions are helpful.

Sincerely,

Dorothy H, LCCE
