Understanding Small, Asymmetrical Breast Lumps: What to Do Next

I am 32 and went for my annual physical exam.  During my breast exam, my dr felt something she didn't like and referred me to have a diagnostic mammogram done.  I went and had the mammogram done, with spot compression, and an aultrasound.  The report came back to the drs office and said that my left breast had a mass of small asymetrical lumps according to the mammogram and the ultrasound did not indicate anything. The report recommended that I take the test again in 6 mos.  My dr however suggested that I see a breast specialist. What does all this mean for me?  My aunt had breast cancer in both breasts when she was about 45.  I think the asymetry is what is scaring me along with the fact that I won't have insurance or a job in 6 mos. because I am finishing college.  What are your thoughts on this and what I should do?  Thank you.

Well first of all I'm a Swede living in Sweden and I do not understand American health insurance matters at all so please excuse me if my advice do not fit into your insurance realities! Your breast check ups should be complemented with MRI breast scans and if there still are any unclear lesions they should be checked right away without any waiting with needle biopsies. All this should be done right away. It is probable that it will all turn out not to be dangerous but we do not KNOW that so why take chances?! Good luck!
