Understanding Mammogram Results & Breast Concerns: A Guide
Questiongood afternoon,
I recently had my first mammagram last week, I am 34 years old, my grandmother (maternal) had a mastecomy at the age 64. I conduct regualr self breast exams, and noticed on myright breast a lump. I made an appointment to see my doctor who confirmed and had a bi-lateral mammagram scheduled Whiel waiting for my appointment, on my left breast I noticed i had a milky discharge. The radiologist had the technician state everythign was ok. My doctors office called after speakign with them she stated my doctor sa a "shadow", and in my left breast the asymetary was not the same and the breast tissue was dense. She recommended a second opinion and referred me to see a breast surgeon. Do I need to be concnered? Is there any informaiton you can recommend I read?
Kindest regards,
Rebecca
AnswerIt is possible. More can not be said at present. If your breasts are dense your mammography should be complemented with BOTH MRI AND ultrasound breast scans. Since your lump can be palpated a needle biopsy could quickly give you the diagnosis too! Please do keep me posted!
Good luck!
