BRCA2 Positive & Second Breast Cancer: Understanding the Risks & Treatment

Question
At age 48 I had breast cancer treated with lumpectomy, Chemo and radiation. Now, 17 years later at age 65, my recent MRI and needle biopsy found:  1.3 CMFN and 7 MM MASS diagnosed as tubular cancers with DCIS present/low grade.   3 years ago I learned I was BRCA2 positive and had my ovaries removed. Last week, a surgeon described this new breast cancer as slow growing, non life threatening and "almost like having no cancer at all". Why, then, does she recommend removing both breasts entirely instead of a lumpectomy?

Answer
Most probably because of your genetic disposition for ovarial cancer AND breast cancer. Since this disposition now also is verified by your second breast cancer I can hardly argue against your doctor nor do I want to! I do agree with your doctor! Be happy this one is not very dangerous! It could be different.....!
Good luck!
