Questionmy girl friend and i were having sex and our condom
broke...she takes the birthcontrol pill 'Yasmine' since a year and
a half ago, but she had missed a week when she was on vacation
in the last week of december. she has been taking it again and
regularly since then, but has had her period all messed up cause
she didnt wait till the begging of her next cycle and just started
again. after we found out that the condom broke we called her
medical provider and ordered the morning after pill..my
question is how long would she have needed to get back on the
pill after her missing a week for the pill to start working again?
and was this past 3 weeks enough time for it to start working...i
appreciate it that you are giving advice on the subject despite
your policy on it, but i would like to hear actual data rather than
whether its right or not with all respect. thank you again.
AnswerThe only way you can depend on the pill for it's contraceptive abilities is by taking it exactly as it's prescribed. Your girl friend has not done that. I cannot answer your question. She will have to either keep taking it the way she's been taking it and wait for her body to straighten out the hormone shifting or quit taking it and wait until she has a normal period and then start again.
There is no data, every girl's body is different and reacts differently to the chemicals in the pill. You do know that the "morning after pill" is an abortion, don't you? Is that what you want to do?
