Norimin 28: Starting Your Birth Control Pill - What to Know

Question
I have just been prescribed the Norimin 28 Day Pill by a doctor for medical reasons. When the doctor asked if I was sexually active I said no (I was too nervous to say yes). However, I have been sexually active for a little less than a year. My period is just finishing but the doctor said to start taking the pill today so I will, but I know that you are meant to start taking these pills on your first day of 'bleeding' But I will be taking my first pill on the 7th and last day of bleeding. So will this effect the pills in terms of contraceptive effectiveness? My partner and I are planning to have unprotected sex for the first time in around 20 days time. Is this long enough for the pill to be effective in terms of contraception? How long will it be before I can be sexually active with my partner and have these pills working well enough to prevent pregnancy to the specified percentage? Thank you.

Answer
Allie Rose,

Please reconsider having sex outside of marriage. There is such a chance of sexually transmitted diseases and pregnancy. Even if you take the pills exactly correctly, you can still get pregnant. Let me know what other questions you have. I need to talk to you privately at CHERYL51@aol.com
