QuestionHello, My name is Ashley, and my husband and I are trying for our second child. But let me explain some things to you first.
We had our first child within only 3 months of trying. After we had her, we decided that we would use the Depo-Provera injection for birth control until we decided we wanted another baby. Now, I know you said not to ask any questions about the shot, but this is not a question related to the shot itself. Its more of a question about my fertility after coming off of the shot. That said, here is the rest of the story.
I absolutley HATED the shot, so I went off of it in April, and we used condoms from then until a couple months ago when we bagan trying again.
We had our doctor map out all my most fertile days, I am taking prenatal vitamins, eating right, etc etc.
...Come to find out from the doctor we have now, that it takes about 6 months to a year for that horrible shot to get out of your system. So, I was wondering if there is anything I can do to speed that along. We have been trying for a few months now without any success, and I a thinking its because of that shot. I have been off of it for almost 9 months now.
We were considering taking fertility pills.... but I figured I would ask someones opinion on that before we tried using those.
Thank you so so much for reading this despite my mencion of the Depo-Provera shot. I look forward to hearing from you.
again... thank you so much. :)
AnswerI dont' think I have much more hope or information to give you than what your doctor already said. The Depo Shot does cause serious fertility problems and they can be somewhat long lasting. I am not sure I would be too interested in taking fertility drugs when your body is still trying to recover from the depo drugs. But that is your decision. You do have to consider that all these drugs you put in your body can have side effects and your health, long term, can be compromised.
