Possible Pregnancy While on Birth Control: Symptoms & Concerns
QuestionHello, I have been on birth control for going on 3 months now after nursing my little one. I have recently had some symptoms like when I was pregnant--- breast are getting bigger, slight ache on my lower left abdomen and a slight uneasy stomach ( no vomiting ). My husband and I have not had sex very much and when we do he pulls out. I had my scheduled period almost 2 weeks ago( haven't had sex since then) and my question is can you get pregnant while on the pill and still have your period? I did take a pregnancy test last week just because I was scared and it was negative--- if you are on the pill would this make the test read false? Oh please I need someones advice please and thank you.

AnswerIf you have a true period you can't be pregnant. You know what your periods look and feel like. If it's a real period you are not pregnant. Some women can spot a little when they are pregnant but it doesn't look or feel like a true period. The pill could be causing some of your symptoms. If you miss your period by a week and take a pregnancy test, the pill should not interfere with the test.
