Loestrin 24 & Bacterial Infection: Possible Connection & What To Do

Question
About one day after starting Loestrin (i started on the first day of my period) I began to have terrible itching and burning in my vulvar area. I went to my doc. and she said it was a bacterial infection, but she didn't know which one. It's been a week, and I am still in agony. I am thinking of stopping the pill. I've used Alesse 28 in the past with no side effects.

Answer
Hi Liz,

Thanks for your question. I'm not a medical professional so I'm glad you went to your doctor. Did she give you anything to take for the possible infection? Did you have unprotected sex with anyone who maybe wasn't safe? I won't be able to tell from your email but I would recommend going to another doctor for a 2nd opinion. I don't recommend the pill at all because of the hormonal side effects. I don't know much about Alesse28 but could do some research if you like. Please contact me at DCHERYL51@yahoo.com to talk more.
Why did you change pills? Ok, talk to you later.
