Post-Coital Symptoms After Condom Break: What Could It Be?
QuestionI have been taking ortho trycylinLo for the past 2 years. As planned, I was to go off my pills on a thursday. Three days later me and my boyfriend had protected sex. Unfortunately, the condom broke. I started my period the following tuesday. Two weeks later my nipples are tender and sore. They are slightly swollen and somewhat darker. I took a pregancy test and it was negative. However I am not to start my period or have a ''missed period'' for another week or two. What does all this mean. Is it possible for me to be or becoming pregnant?
AnswerAs long as you got a period after the time the condom broke, I don't think you're pregnant. It's more likely that your nipples are sore because of the rise in your hormones that comes now that you're off the pill. A pregnancy test will generally be positive by the time you have symptoms of pregnancy. Since yours was negative this is also evidence that you're not pregnant. Your next period is likely to be a week or two late (first normal period after stopping the pill), so don't get too concerned when that happens.
