Impact of Long-Term Birth Control on Fertility After Discontinuation
QuestionI had been on bc(started with the pill, then went to the shot) in 2001 after my daughter was born. I stopped any kind of bc in 2008. In 2009, the guy I was with and I were trying to have a child and nothing happened. I was wondering that after that long of a period of time (almost 8 years) of bc and then coming off of it and trying for a child 6-7 months after coming off bc, would it have any effect on my ability to become pregnant.
AnswerAnya,
There have been reports of long-term use of birth control causing future fertility problems. Some women do have these problems and some don't. So now are you trying for a child or not at this point? Let me know. You can email me privately at CHERYL51@aol.com and I would be glad to hear from you.
