QuestionHello,
I first would like to apologize for the embarrassing/disgusting detail in my question, but I feel it is needed in order to get a solid answer...
I've been on Ocella for over 3 years, taking it religiously between 7:00am & 8:00am each day.
During this current pack, which I started Monday, April 18:
- On Tuesday (4/19): I had "softer than normal" bowel movements at 9:00am, 12:50pm, and again at 5:50pm.
- On Wednesday (4/20): I had similar "softer than normal" bowel movements at 7:20am (before ingesting pill), 9:00am, 10:00am, and 1:30pm. (Being that I had multiple movements so close together, I decided to take an additional active pill from my spare pack at 1:50pm.)
(Furthermore: my boyfriend and I had unprotected sex on Wednesday morning at 9:15...I didn't really think that Tuesday was a problem, but I have begun to doubt myself..)
So, what exactly constitutes severe diarrhea that would affect the absorption of the pill? (ie: is it ANYTHING looser than normal or is it anything WATERY where it is practically shapeless?)
Also, being that I doubled up Wednesday's pill intake, would I still "protected" from pregnancy?
Any clarification and assistance that you can provide will be greatly appreciated!
AnswerIn general, your pill will still get absorbed unless you have frequent watery stools that indicate that everything is just running through your intestinal tract. Although you had frequent stools, most likely your pill got absorbed OK. It was probably good extra protection to take an extra pill on Wednesday. I think you're protected from pregnancy.
