Stopping Birth Control & Light Bleeding: Pregnancy Concerns

Question
Im 18 and have been taking birth control pill for almost 2 months. I had sex for the first time 3 weeks ago, I didnt use a back up form of protection. I was taking antibiotics during that time and didnt know it affected my birth control. I stopped taking the pill a couple days ago and have light bleeding, does that mean Im not pregnant or could I be?

Answer
Hi Katie,

Did you ever find out if you are pregnant? I'm sorry for the delay. I had trouble getting to my email in the last few days.

Yes, taking antibiotics can affect your birth control effectiveness. But I can't tell you online if you are pregnant. You can go to a pregnancy resource center and get a free test there.  Go to this link http://www.optionline.org or call 1-800-395-HELP. Then contact the place near you and find out when you can go and get a free test. Did you have any kind of symptoms at all?

You can email me privately at CHERYL51@aol.com so hope to hear from you soon. P.S. Stopping taking the pills would affect your hormonal level and that can make your cycle abnormal.

Sincerely,
Diane Cheryl
