Post-Treatment Period Changes After Chlamydia & Birth Control

Question
Hello, I had unprotected sex roughly around a month ago, I caught chlamydia (I am waiting to be tested for HIV) and took the azithromycin treatment last Tuesday.
The nurse said a stomach ache was likely and that came and went within a few hours.

I am on Ovranette birth control, and still had a few days left before my period was due to begin, however, the day after taking the treatment I began a very light period that became much heavier the following day. I continued taking my pills which ran out on the Friday, and on Tuesday morning I started again since id been bleeding my usual amount of time and It was bothering me.

It is not AS heavy now, but shows no sign of slowing down, and this will be my tenth day of a period. Should I just wait it out? Is this a common side effect of anti-biotic like azithromycin?

Answer
Bleeding is not a common side effect of antibiotics, but it is a common side effect of chlamydia infections.  I suspect that the chlamydia infection is the reason for the bleeding.  However, since you got treated, I would expect the bleeding to be going away, especially since you're now back on the pill.  Since it shows no sign of slowing down, I would probably see your doctor again to see if there is another cause of the bleeding.
