QuestionI am currently doing a research paper about abortion and whether it should be restricted. I am very much pro-choice, and I am looking at pro-life arguments that are strong (I find these lacking, but then again, so are many of the pro-choice arguments). Can you explain your pro-life position in detail?
AnswerStephanie,
I sent you an e-mail response and was not sure it went through. Here is a summary in case it did not. I believe as a Christian that the Bible is the ultimate reference guide. It says that God knows us even when we are in our mother's wombs. We should not take a life that God is watching grow.
Regarding unwanted pregnancies, there are many, many loving couples who long for a child of their own to raise and to cherish. To not have an unwanted pregnancy shows selfishness on the part of the biological mother and oftentimes the father.
I believe that abortion takes the life of a living person, so I equate it with murder. Murder is not right, morally nor legally.
I would write more, but am short on time. If you need further help or information that you feel I can help with, please let me know.
Best wishes.
