Teenage Pregnancy & Abortion: Understanding the Impacts & Challenges

Question
I am a student and I have been conducting some research on teenage pregnancy, it would be great if you had some time to answer a few questions for me.

Do children brought up by parents, who gave birth in their teens, go down the same path as their parents or become troubled?

Should all teenagers under 18 get an abortion or give up their baby if they dont have the help of a parent or guardian to raise the child?

What are the main social problems teenagers face when becoming pregnant?

Should teenagers be helped financially from the government when becoming pregnant? Or should the school and parents be blamed for not keeping a closer watch?

If you dont have time to answer these questions for me, could you suggest someone else I could contact.Thankyou

Answer
Dear Emily,

Here are your questions followed by my answers.

Do children brought up by parents, who gave birth in their teens, go down the same path as their parents or become troubled?

Not all, but many.  Children born to teenage mothers have a higher risk of having a teen pregnancy themselves than children born to an intact, two parent family. Here is my blog with an entire article about this and other negative consequences of teen motherhood:

Should all teenagers under 18 get an abortion or give up their baby if they dont have the help of a parent or guardian to raise the child?

I think they should definitely, in most cases, give their child up for adoption if they cannot have an abortion.  Here is my blog with an entire article about this, giving reasons for why I think this way:

What are the main social problems teenagers face when becoming pregnant?
Many teen mothers lose the majority of their friends.  Some teachers and other adults may look down on them for their choice to have a baby.

Should teenagers be helped financially from the government when becoming pregnant?

No. Just because they got pregnant does not mean they have to have a baby.  They can get an abortion.  If they do not want to have an abortion, there is always the choice of giving the child up for adoption to an adult family with two married parents.  If they refuse the choices of abortion and adoption, then they are only keeping the baby because they want to, it is a personal choice.  I don't think people's tax dollars should pay for the personal choices of others.

Or should the school and parents be blamed for not keeping a closer watch?

Both the schools and parents should be blamed for not keeping a closer watch.

Here are some other articles in my blog that would help you with these questions.
