QuestionQUESTION: hi, let me first tell you my story...I had a medical abortion during my fifth week had light bleeding and passed few and dime-sized clots. I had a transvaginal ultrasound since i haven't had my period much to my surprise i am 14 weeks & 5 days pregnant. I live in a country where abortion is illegal, so having the procedure is really a secret.on feb 22, i repeated the abortion pills but it didnt work.luckily, I met a midwife who performed my surgical abortion. in the morning of feb 23 she used a plastic catheter and inserted it on my cervix, asked me to take 2 of the 8 arthrotec tablets every 3 hours. 12 hours passed but my cervix didn't opened so she inserted two remaining tablets of arthrotec. after 6 hours i experienced severe cramping, i bled and passed several strings of blood and a white clot the size of my thumb. After several minutes, the catheter was removed by itself when i passed large blood clots. I havent seen it since it was on the toilet bowl and it was full of blood but i felt the clots were large.. Im sorry if this was very detailed. My question is did i successfully expelled the fetus? am i no longer pregnant? i cannot opt for an ultrasound since the pills might still be visible in my system but i was able to complete the dose of methergin and amoxicillin antibiotics for a week. a few days following the procedure, i bleed several clots and it was on and off. can you please enlighten me regarding this? the procedure was not done with the use of suction machine to remove the fetus. Just a combination of 2 tablets and catheter insertion. thank's, looking dorward for your reply.
ANSWER: Hi :)
It sounds like you expelled it. I've never heard of it being done that way, but when the procedure is illegal people have to figure out a way. It would seem that the clots were parts of tissue of the fetus, as well as parts of your uterus lining. When the pills can no longer be detected, I hope you do get another ultrasound if you can, or at least take a pregnancy test. Sometimes not all of the tissue is removed and that can be dangerous. Did I answer your question? If not, please let me know.

QUESTION: tnx a lot. one more thing, how long do i have to wait before using home pregnancy test and when can i have an ultrasound?? tnx again mam.
AnswerYou can probably have an ultrasound whenever you like-A doctor or nurse or midwife could determine that better, but you should be able to have one starting now whenever is convenient for you. As for the pregnancy test, it can still show a positive result for up to two months-but after a couple weeks you can try one. Also, you can test to see if the pregnancy hormone level is decreasing, with a doctor or midwife. An ultrasound would give you faster results, but it's fine waiting several weeks before testing.
