QuestionI had a suction abortion on 12/1/07. I was 5weeks and 2days from my LMP. I have had
previous abortions and this recovery is not going so well. Yesterday my breasts started
getting really tender and I felt nauseated. Is this normal? In the past all my symptoms of
pregnancy have stopped within 2 days of having an abortion and I find it strange that 5 days
later my breasts are starting to hurt, my back and stomach are still cramping. I bleed for 2
days and had a little yellowish discharge. I did call and my levels are going down, do you
think I could still be pregnant?
AnswerIt sounds completely normal to me. You will continue to experience many symptoms of pregnancy for at least 3-4 months because of leftover pregnancy hormones. It's really nothing to worry about, even if it hasn't happened before. Every pregnancy is different in the amount of hormones it creates in your body.
It can take up to six months for the hormones to clear out fully, but a home pregnancy test will give you an accurate result after about 8 weeks after your abortion. You can put your mind at ease then.
